What is a typical
worship service at BEFC like?
Our services are at 8:00 AM and 10:45 AM.
Entering: When you enter the building, you will be welcomed by one of our greeters and handed a bulletin that will give you an overview of the service. We ask that people enter the worship area quietly to allow a time of preparation for meeting with God.
Order of Worship: The service typically begins with music, then we have a time of scripture reading (see below), then there's a welcome, any announcements and a prayer by the pastor. At this time, the children ages 6th grade and under are dismissed to Jr. Church. Next there is the message and then we close with either a hymn or a benediction. Once per month, we have communion right before the benediction. Sometimes the order changes a little but it usually follows this format.
Bible Reading: There is a congregational reading from the Bible during each service. Bibles are black and in the chair pocket in front of you. Usually the leader reads one verse and the people respond by reading the next.
Offering: We do not pass an offering plate but simply have a box on the table in the lobby. If this is your first week with us, let your presence be your gift to God.
Guest List: If this is your first time with us, we would be grateful if you would sign the guest book when it is passed during the service. Please continue to pass it to the back after signing it. Please take a gift from the cabinet on your right just outside the double doors when you re-enter the lobby.
Communion: At BEFC, we celebrate the the Lord's Supper, which is for any believer who joins us whether or not they attend regularly.
Our Gift to You: If this is your first visit, we have a gift for you on a cabinet on the way out of the service. Please take one of the books/CD's.
Sermon Recordings: The main teaching in the worship service is called a “sermon.” CDs of today’s and past sermons are available on the table in the lobby for $1.00 each. You can also listen to our sermons for free on our sermons page.
Food & Drink: We ask that you do not bring food or drinks (except water) into the worship area.
