BEFC Compassion Ministry
Purpose
To prayerfully, materially, individually,
and if appropriate financially, support those projects and individuals which
will significantly extend God's kingdom throughout Central Vermont and the
surrounding region by sharing the Good News of Jesus Christ.
Vision
To do what Jesus would do in our local
church community and surrounding areas and to provide opportunities for BEFC
church family to be the “hands and feet” of Jesus Christ.
Guiding Principles:
- Focus on
giving practical support to those who are suffering and in need of loving
assistance. Whether due to illness, injury, life transition, or other type
of stress. (at times people may have a need for meals, visits in the home or
hospital, transportation, family respite, or other assistance).
- Seek to bless the less
privileged by meeting practical needs such as food and clothing, while
preserving dignity, with the anticipation that Jesus will use us by allowing
for those we serve - to experience the Holy Sprit working in their lives and
hearts.
-
Demonstrate the love of God
to help and encourage those around us.
-
Any compassion project must
point people to the central message of salvation and redemption through the
blood of Jesus Christ.
-
Ensure our ministry is reaching real needs that are not currently being met
by other secular agencies.
-
Minister so as to help people help themselves.
It is wise
to remember only those things done for the redemption of humanity will stand
for eternity and that the spiritual need of men is given primary importance as
this opens the way to all else.
